(i) What is open source software?
     Open source software is a computer software with available and licensed source code in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose.


(ii) Why people prefer open source software over proprietary alternatives nowadays?
1- Open source software is generally free
2- Open source software is much better at adhering to open standards than proprietary software is.
3- Typically much less resource-intensive, meaning that you can run it well even on older  hardware.
4- Business users can take a piece of open source software and tweak it to suit their needs. 
5- The source code of open source software is available to all, meaning that no one company owns the software.
6- Open source is peer reviewed software, which leads to more reliability.


(iii) Name top (fives) 5 most popular open source software and compare them with similar proprietary software (e.g. Open Office versus Microsoft Office).
